FN PS90 – 5.7×28 – Gen2 – 16” Barrel – Ring Sight – Near Mint Condition

The PS90 is the civilian version of the select-fire P90, used by the US Secret Service and other military and law enforcement agencies needing a compact high-capacity rifle chambered in the 5.7x28mm cartridge.  FN developed the 5.7×28 cartridge as a lower-recoiling, higher-velocity, armor-piercing alternative to 9mm.

This particular model is a “Near Mint” condition Gen 2 model based on the serial number FN043762.  The steel receiver and polymer stock show very little wear or handling marks.  In fact, the receiver still has the factory serial number sticker.  The rifle’s internals show very little wear and the bore is bright with defined rifling.

The PS90 has several advantages over other full size semi-automatic rifles and bullpups.  For one, the receiver, direct-blowback bolt, and trigger group can be removed in seconds without tools for cleaning.  The rifle is also fully ambidextrous with dual charging handles, a safety wheel mounted directly in front of the trigger, dual magazine releases, and iron sights at the 9 and 3 o’clock positions.

The 16” barrel is dark gray with an integrated muzzle brake to reduce recoil.  Note, the muzzle brake is pinned and welded.   The rifle is easily converted to an SBR with an aftermarket barrel and appropriate paperwork.

This rifle features an original MC-10-80 Ring Site.  The sight is a tritium illuminated optic specifically designed for the P90/PS90, offering a lower height over bore than modern picatinny rail mounted solutions. The sight is a 1x power with a gray/black reticle for day use supplemented with tritium for low light use.  While the reticle on this example is visible in daylight conditions, the tritium no longer illuminates the sight in low light conditions.  The tritium version on this rifle is no longer manufactured, potentially increasing its value.  For those looking for a more modern alternative, a battery-powered replacement can be purchased from Kingsview Optical in the UK.

This rifle would be perfect for someone looking for a unique ambidextrous compact rifle chambered in a high velocity centerfire cartridge with low recoil.  As noted earlier, this rifle also makes an ideal SBR platform, the configuration used by the US and other governmental agencies.
